Travelling to Portmahomack: By Car
Portmahomack is about a 20 minute drive off the main north-south A9 trunk route.
From the south or Inverness direction, travel north of Kildary to the Nigg roundabout.
Turn right onto the B9175. After about three miles, turn left onto the Fearn road. When
you reach Fearn, turn right onto the B9165. After two miles turn left at the sign
for Portmahomack. Continue following the B9165 for about seven miles until you reach Portmahomack.
From the north (Wick, Dornoch) travel to Tain and enter the old town.
Follow the High Street to the Fendom road for Portmahomack. Continue until you meet the B9165. Turn
left and the village is about two and a half miles further on.
Travelling to Portmahomack: By Air
Inverness airport is a one hour and ten minute drive from Portmahomack.
Car rental
is available at the airport or by transfer to Inverness. Inverness has services from London,
Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dublin (Ireland), Stockholm (Sweden), Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds-Bradford, Wick, Shetland and Orkney. Click here for the Inverness

Travelling to Portmahomack: By Rail
The nearest railway stations are at Tain and Fearn. These are unmaned
stations with no facilities. Please make sure you have arrangements for taxis or pickups to

Travelling to Portmahomack: Bus Service, Taxis etc
Local bus services connect Portmahomack with Tain, Inverness and other local villages. Local taxis are available in Tain and the surrounding area. Cruise ships call at the port of Invergordon about 12 miles away.
